Pono Net­work to hold event Sun­day

Call­ing the elec­tion of five of its backed County Coun­cil can­di­dates “a new dawn in county gov­ern­ment,” the Maui Pono Net­work an­nounced it would have an “‘Ohana Can­di­date Ap­pre­ci­a­tions Cel­e­bra­tion” from 5 to 9 p.m. Sun­day at the Vet­er­ans of For­eign Wars beach venue in Ki­hei.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic are in­vited “to cel­e­brate the ded­i­ca­tion and courage of all ‘Ohana can­di­dates and their sup­port­ers.”

There will be a com­mu­nity potluck, live mu­sic and an ap­pre­ci­a­tions cer­e­mony.

The five elected coali­tion­backed County Coun­cil can­di­dates were Coun­cil Mem­ber Kelly King (South Maui) and Coun­cil Mem­bers-elect Shane Si­nenci (East Maui), Ta­mara Paltin (West Maui), Natalie “Tasha” Kama (Kahu­lui) and Keani Rawl­ins-Fer­nan­dez (Molokai).
