Bears re­move Tru­bisky from in­jury re­port, en­sur­ing start vs. Rams

Chase Daniel led the Bears to a 23-16 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanks­giv­ing Day and Daniel was the quar­ter­back again last Sun­day in a 30-27 loss to the New York Giants.

CHIEFS: The Kansas City Chiefs signed wide re­ceiver Kelvin Benjamin to a one-year con­tract on Fri­day.

The 27-year-old Benjamin was waived by Buf­falo ear­lier this week, end­ing a dis­ap­point­ing 13 months with the Bills. He had just 23 catches for 354 yards and one touch­down while get­ting knocked for hav­ing one of the high­est drop rates in the NFL this sea­son.

Benjamin, who be­gan his ca­reer in Carolina, gives the Chiefs some depth for the stretch run. Sammy Watkins has been both­ered by a foot in­jury and his sta­tus go­ing for­ward re­mains un­cer­tain.

JETS: New York Jets line­backer Dar­ron Lee has been sus­pended four games by the NFL for vi­o­lat­ing its sub­stance abuse pol­icy.

The league an­nounced the sus­pen­sion Fri­day, a few hours af­ter the Jets com­pleted their last full prac­tice be­fore leav­ing for Buf­falo to play the Bills on Sun­day.

The sus­pen­sion be­gins im­me­di­ately, mean­ing Lee will sit out the team’s fi­nal four games of the sea­son.

Lee ranked sec­ond on the Jets in to­tal tack­les with 99 and his three in­ter­cep­tions were tied for the league lead among lineback­ers.

was driv­ing skid­ded on a rainslicked curve on a dark, ru­ral East Texas highway and was hit by two other ve­hi­cles.

The Texas Depart­ment of Pub­lic Safety re­ports the crash hap­pened about 10 p.m. lo­cal time Thurs­day on Texas Route 198 al­most 6 miles north of Ma­bank and 50 miles south­east of Dal­las. A DPS state­ment says the li­mou­sine Robert­son was driv­ing en­tered the curve at an un­safe speed for the rainy con­di­tions. It veered off the road and skid­ded side­ways be­fore com­ing to a stop par­tially on the road. A pickup truck fol­low­ing be­hind hit the limo, knock­ing the limo into the south­bound lane where it was slammed by an on­com­ing car.

Robert­son, a 69-year-old Gar­land res­i­dent, died at a nearby hos­pi­tal. The truck driver was treated for mi­nor in­juries and dis­charged. The other driver was un­hurt.

The Los An­ge­les Rams drafted Robert­son from South­ern Univer­sity in the first round of the 1971 NFL draft. He re­mained with the Rams through 1978, then played in 1979-82 for the Buf­falo Bills. He was named first-team All-Pro in 1973 and 1976.
