Rain­bow Warriors im­prove to 2-0 with an­other sweep

Stijn van Til­burg had nine kills to lead the fourth-ranked Univer­sity of Hawaii men’s vol­ley­ball team to a 25-13, 25-12, 25-20 victory over Con­cor­dia-Irvine on the sec­ond night of the Hawai­ian Air­lines Rain­bow War­rior Clas­sic on Fri­day at the Stan Sher­iff Cen­ter in Honolulu.

Af­ter hit­ting .800 in UH’s sea­son-open­ing win the night be­fore, King Kekaulike High School grad­u­ate Colton Cow­ell cooled off a bit with a .150 hit­ting per­cent­age, but still con­trib­uted all around with seven kills, two as­sists, two aces, three digs and two blocks for the Rain­bow Warriors (2-0).

Rado Para­punov added eight kills and Joe Wors­ley had 34 as­sists, three kills and three blocks for Hawaii, which wraps up the tour­na­ment to­day against South­ern Cal­i­for­nia (2-0).

Jor­dan Hoppe led the Eagles (0-5) with nine kills.
