Rainbow Warriors improve to 2-0 with another sweep
Stijn van Tilburg had nine kills to lead the fourth-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-12, 25-20 victory over Concordia-Irvine on the second night of the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Warrior Classic on Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
After hitting .800 in UH’s season-opening win the night before, King Kekaulike High School graduate Colton Cowell cooled off a bit with a .150 hitting percentage, but still contributed all around with seven kills, two assists, two aces, three digs and two blocks for the Rainbow Warriors (2-0).
Rado Parapunov added eight kills and Joe Worsley had 34 assists, three kills and three blocks for Hawaii, which wraps up the tournament today against Southern California (2-0).
Jordan Hoppe led the Eagles (0-5) with nine kills.
