Hawaii saw 23 new COVID-19 cases — including two on Maui — Wednesday, following a record-breaking day of 41 new cases on Tuesday, the Department of Health reported.

The COVID-19 Joint Information Center said the two Maui cases were from Lahaina but offered no other details as investigations continued.

Oahu had 20 new cases and Hawaii island, one.

The state’s total grew to 1,094 cases — Honolulu, 808; Maui County, 130 (two on Molokai and none on Lanai); Hawaii island, 96; and Kauai, 42. Eighteen residents were diagnosed outside the state.

There have been 19 deaths — six on Maui and 13 on

Oahu.

A total of 122 people have required hospitalization across the state.

At a county news conference Wednesday, Managing Director Sandy Baz said there were no hospitalizations for COVID-19 and no ventilators in use for the virus. One-third of ICU beds were in use but none for COVID-19-related cases.

The county is “prepared for future surges,” said Baz, who was filling in for Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino. The mayor was meeting with state officials during the afternoon news conference.

He also noted that returning traveling residents, who have made up the majority of recent cases, continue to be a concern.

In other COVID-related news, Baz said that people traveling to and from Lanai need a printed Hawaii Traveler Health Form to hand to Expeditions Lanai Ferry officials. He said Expeditions does not have access to the state’s online system.

The ferry’s current schedule is two round trips on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The ferry departs Lahaina Small Boat Harbor at 6:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. and leaves Manele Small Boat Harbor at 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Travelers are required to wear face coverings.

Baz also listed county medical providers that offer COVID-19 testing throughout Maui County. They include:
