Hana man wanted for series of crimes arrested

Bail set at $108K for John Kahalehoe III

A Hana man sought on warrants was arrested Wednesday, along with a woman who reportedly told police the fugitive wasn’t at the residence in Hana where he was located.

John Kahalehoe III, 26, who is also known as John Boy, barricaded himself in a bedroom of a residence in the 1300 area of Hana Highway when police located him Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Police said Jaylin Victorine Dyment, 21, who was at the residence at about 5:15 p.m., told officers he wasn’t there after being asked multiple times if she knew Kahalehoe’s whereabouts. While officers tried to apprehend Kahalehoe, Victorine Dyment allegedly told him not to open the door and not to give himself up, police said.

She was arrested and charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, as well as third-degree promoting of a dangerous drug after police reported finding her with three plastic bags containing 0.55 gram of crystal methamphetamine, police said. Her bail was set at $2,000.

Kahalehoe was arrested on four warrants charging him with three counts of first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, two counts of fourth-degree criminal property damage, three counts of second-degree theft, two counts of unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, third-degree theft, seven counts of credit card theft, firstdegree criminal property damage, second-degree assault, fourth-degree arson, two counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, seconddegree resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle and fourth-degree theft.

The crimes occurred from November to May.

His total bail was set at $108,000 in the four cases. He also was arrested on two probation violation warrants with bail totaling $50,000.

In May, police had asked for the public’s help in locating Kahalehoe.
