Retired scientist endorses Rawlins-Fernandez

-

I am a retired scientist, Molokai is my home, and I wholeheartedly endorse the reelection of Maui County Councilwoman Keani Rawlins-Fernandez.

I am very grateful and feel fortunate to live in Keani’s Maui County district, and I have been able to observe firsthand all the accomplishments she has fought for and all she is implementing.

A long-term viable environmental, social and economic future is crucial to all of us, especially for all the generations that are following us. I hope for a bright sustainable future for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and I have witnessed Keani’s profound commitment to find and implement environmental, social and economic solutions.

Living on an island, especially an underserved rural island such as Molokai, sustainability and self-sufficiency become ever more important and crucial. Keani has fought for Sustainable Molokai (a self-sustaining agricultural co-op), bringing a nonpolluting landfill incinerator to Molokai, and participating in the groundwork to make Molokai energy independent through establishing its own solar generated electricity program, among so many other programs she is involved and fighting for.

She is an advocate for all people in her district, and I love her commitment and spirit of aloha that she shows to everyone and everything, regardless of how small and unimportant. Wholeheartedly, Keani Rawlins-Fernandez gets my vote to be my representative on the Maui County Council.
