COVID-19 AT A GLANCE

-

■ State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 103 new cases as of 11:59 p.m. Monday, including 64 on Oahu, 27 on Maui, three on Hawaii island and nine residents diagnosed out of state.

■ There have now been 25,442 cases statewide, including 20,642 on Oahu, 2,132 on Hawaii island, 1,792 in Maui County (1,661 on Maui, 106 on Lanai, 25 on Molokai) and 178 on Kauai. A total of 698 residents have been diagnosed out of state.

■ Three new deaths were reported Wednesday, including a Maui man in his 60s, an Oahu man in his 50s and another

Oahu man in his 90s. All had underlying conditions and were hospitaliz­ed.

■ There have now been 404 fatalities statewide, including 322 on Oahu, 53 on Hawaii island, 25 on Maui, one on Kauai and three residents who died out of state.

■ Gov. David Ige announced that the pre-travel testing program will be expanded to travelers from South Korea starting Feb. 5.

■ State lawmakers and legislativ­e employees are set to receive their vaccinatio­ns today. Under the vaccinatio­n plan, the roughly 500 legislativ­e employees at the Hawaii State Capitol fall under Phase 1b as individual­s essential to government operations.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on identifyin­g COVID-19:

■ Fever and cough are symptoms.

■ Most people have mild illness and are able to recover at home. If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, contact your health care provider immediatel­y.

■ Keep track of symptoms.

■ If you have an emergency warning sign (including trouble breathing), get medical attention right away.

■ Some people who are not showing symptoms could have the illness.

Methods for preventing illness include:

■ Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after nose-blowing, coughing or sneezing.

■ If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

■ Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

■ Avoid contact with people who are sick; stay home if sick.

■ Wear a face mask in public settings. The mask is intended to protect others.

■ Social distancing: Stay 6 feet apart from others.

■ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertop­s, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
