Sen. Hirono invites ‘best of our state’ to attend the President’s State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) announced Kelly Maluo-Pearson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, as her guest for President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union Address. For more than 35 years, Maluo-Pearson has worked to support keiki and their families on Maui. Following the devastating wildfires on Maui last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui has been instrumental in providing services to youth on the island, offering additional afterschool support for students, providing youth development services to displaced families, distributing supplies, supporting families through financial assistance, and helping hundreds of children with replacing lost resources for team sports and group activities.
“Kelly Maluo-Pearson has dedicated her career to supporting Hawaii’s keiki,” said Senator Hirono. “In the wake of the Maui wildfires, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui has been a vital resource for young people impacted by the fires and their families. Kelly represents the best of our state, and I’m honored to welcome her to the Capitol as my guest for President Biden’s State of the Union Address on behalf of all those who have come together to support our Maui ohana. As the people of Maui recover and rebuild, I will continue working with federal partners, local leaders, and advocates like Kelly to support our keiki and communities on Maui and across the state.”

Kelly Maluo-Pearson has been involved in youth development for over 35 years and is celebrating her 27th anniversary with the
Boys & Girls Club of Maui this year. Prior to becoming CEO in 2014, she served as the Director of Operations for more than 17 years. On August 4, 2017, the Maui County Mayor proclaimed the day Kelly Pearson Day
for her 20th anniversary with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui and her years of service to the community. More recently, in 2023, she was awarded the Blue Spirit Award at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Pacific Region Leadership Conference, for her impact during her time with the organization.
