Farmers improve to 6-0 with 11-8 win over Spartans
Heath Lopez-Schonely drove in three runs and got the win on the mound to help lead the Molokai High School baseball team defeat Seabury Hall 11-8 on Saturday in Kaunakakai.
Lopez-Schonely had two hits, including a three-run double, and scored two runs for the Farmers. He also pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing five runs on four hits, five walks and a hit batter while striking out three.
David Lima-English, who started and pitched the first two innings for Molokai, re-entered and tossed a scoreless seventh for the save.
Clarence Tanabe had two RBIs for the Farmers, who completed a two-game sweep of the Spartans to improve to 6-0 in Maui Interscholastic League Division II play.
Bryson Tasaki was 2 for 2 with three walks, two runs scored and an RBI, and Murray Brown drove in two run for the Spartans (3-2).
At Maui High on Saturday, Lanai finished off a two-game sweep of Hana with a 12-6 victory.
Iokepa Koanui was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, AJ Sigrah was also 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Micah Kahihikolo scored two runs and hit a triple for the Pine Lads (2-3).
Isaac Kristiansen was 2 for 5 with a triple and run scored for the Dragons (06). Ka‘aha Kalanikau-Akuna batted 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.
