Coast residents add their numbers to national Women’s March

- By Susan Nutter

More than 70 women and men participated in the Fort Bragg rally for the annual Women’s March last Saturday. Led by Diana Brown, organizer of the event, enthusiastic demonstrators with appropriate signs chanted to a background of supportive honks from passers-by at Main and Laurel streets.

This is the fourth Women’s March event held across the country, including in Fort Bragg. The first Women’s March in 2017 was attended by more than 2,800 coastal activists, who marched from Main Street in the rain to Eagles Hall on Corry Street with most having to stay outside for lack of space indoors.

Mendocino Coast activists have proudly supported various national events from the Climate Strike to No War with Iran to Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, among many others over the years.
