FORT BRAGG » This is the last of a series of articles published since early December to promote the newspapers’ year- end “Season of Sharing’ fund drive to benefit the Fort Bragg Food Bank. Along the way, we’ve visited (virtually, this year) with staff members and volunteers, some new, some longtimers, and learned about the community members they so enjoy helping.

Although Thanksgiving and Christmas 2020 are now a memory, the Fort Bragg Food Bank needs our help year-round. The Food Bank has been feeding the hungry in our community since 1979. We can all help.

In a pre-pandemic concert in San Francisco a few years ago, singer and activist Joan Baez spoke for all of us: “Now is the time to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keeper. Now is the time to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. Now is the time for love … Now is the time to take on the larger forces of darkness.” This rings true now more than ever.

Each year, the generosity of Mendocino Coast communities is proven time and again; the 24th Annual Season of Sharing fundraising drive sponsored by the Fort Bragg Advocate-News and

The Mendocino Beacon to benefit the Food Bank garnered widespread support.

The money gathered during the Season of Sharing is used all year long by the Food Bank to help ensure that the coast’s most vulnerable citizens have enough food to feed themselves and their families.
