Jack Gilmour
Born March 4, 1939, in Altadena CA, Jack Gilmour transitioned December 18th, 2020. He was a lover of life and his wife; of surfing and serving; of wining and dining; of creating and relating; of teaching and beaching; of laughing and learning; of cats, and that’s not all.
He was a Jack of many trades and a master of one: creating his life from what he loved. His lighthearted humor balanced his sincere spirituality; his constant kindness flourished in friendship; his hard work supported his passionate play.
His first date with his wife, Sylvia, almost 45 years ago, never ended. Though not a fairy-tale, they honored and supported each other through 43 years of marriage. Sylvia is wholeheartedly grateful for the love, trust, fun, growth and friendship they shared. She is comforted by their two cats, Bello and Max.
Friends and family have said about Jack: “you made a difference in my life, helping me to have my own faith, from simply being around you and experiencing your healing energy”; “I remember most your humanity and your generosity. I am a better person for having known you”; “he is a bright light in the world... he has made a permanent mark on my soul”; “I see you as the one person in my world that has aged gracefully and given me an example of how you can live a beautiful, giving, spiritual life”.
Jack’s health degenerated steadily after being rearended on the freeway July of 2019. It is a blessing he is no longer suffering. May he ride the perfect wave into eternity, always smiling, growing, learning and loving.
