NEW SERVICES ADDED TO ROTARY PARK

-

In its continuing effort to make Rotary Park more beneficial to local citizens, the Mendocino Rotary Club has added a tiny free library exchange cabinet to the western wall of the equipment shed. The library cabinet was donated by Pam Graham and was painted and installed by Matt O’Halloran.

The best way to think of a tiny library is to think of it as a public book exchange. More than 90,000 public book exchanges are registered worldwide, with millions of books exchanged each year.

Visitors of the tiny library at Rotary Park are encouraged to leave books they would like to share or stop by and pick a book up for their reading enjoyment. There is no fee or library card required to use the tiny library.

Soon, the Mendocino Rotary Club will be completing Rotary Park’s Play Area with the final installation of the chip base underneath the swing set, which the Hayes Family donated in memory of their son.

With the weather improving, the hope is that people will take advantage of the many onsite tables and benches for a picnic at the park or sit and read one of the books from the lending library cabinet on a sunny day.

A newly installed flag pole will fly the American Flag during the Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the Fourth of July holidays. An Easter Egg Hunt at Rotary Park is planned for Easter Sunday, which falls on April 17th this year.

There Mendocino Rotary Club and Foundation are happy to have been able to develop Rotary Park for public benefit.
