R.I.P. Rick Reynolds; March of 1953- February 5, 2022. In Ancient history, Rick was instrumental to Fort Bragg Pool League, having helped organize and then play in our present-day League. In high school, Rick was a standout Basketball player, with trophies from playing different sports. He was an avid golfer and was always the best player in most any foursome he joined. It should be no surprise then that he was also a standout pool player. Look at names on the top-shooter of the League Trophy, and you will see Ricks’ name, not once, but multiple times. His generosity was in his willingness to teach anyone methods to improve their pool game. Greg Puderbaugh credits Rick for advancing his pool game, and many others benefited from Rick’s instructions. We played a couple of racks of 8-ball at Welcome Inn a few weeks ago. Rick was sitting and relaxing and watching the game at the pool table closely. I asked him to play, and he, his face brightening and with honest enthusiasm, nodded yes. In our games, Rick played well and was smiling and joking a bit. I thought at the time that playing pool was likely one of Ricks’ favorite things in this life. I wish he could play in the 2022 Fort Bragg Spring Pool League, but that was just not in the cards for him.
If you are feeling some slight sniffles, don’t go to Pool League! We have people already becoming ill with colds and flu. We all want to keep the Pool League going, and teams can’t afford to lose even one player. So if you feel even slightly under the weather, please stay home and limit exposure to any illness of yours to any other people; we need to look out for the general public and our League players and their families.

League play starts every Tuesday at 7 pm ending by 10 pm. Tournaments, if held, will be after League or on a different night. Tournament schedules are posted on the bulletin boards, and anyone can enter. If visiting Fort Bragg, test your game with local players! Good company, food, music, a full bar, and Shuffleboard. With dice, dart, and corn-hole games in addition to billiards for entertainment. Angelina’s Grill and Bar also features Karaoke Friday evenings. If you like a venue with an outdoor patio, try Milano Bar, friendly patrons, a full-service bar, and a patio with a cornhole game, or relax and enjoy the fresh air. Come, spend the day in Fort Bragg.
CUE TIP: STOP PRACTICING IF YOU ARE NOT HAVING ANY FUN PRACTICING YOUR POOL GAME. WHEN YOU DO PRACTICE, FIGURE OUT SOME WAY TO MAKE IT FUN. IT IS HARD TO LEARN IF YOU ARE TENSE AND UNHAPPY WITH THE EFFORT. TRY SETTING REALISTIC GOALS AND ADD SOME FUN TO THEM. IT IS MORE FUN WHEN PLAYING REGULAR GAMES BECAUSE YOU ARE COMPETING WITH ANOTHER PERSON. MAYBE ADD A PERSON TO YOUR PRACTICE PLAY? PLACE THE BALLS IN EXACT POSITIONS, AND PLAY THEM. YOUR PRACTICE PARTNER RESETS THEM AND TRIES TO BEAT YOUR
