Covid Vaccines, Boosters, and Testing

Mendocino Coast Clinics offers drive-through vaccine clinics every Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm to anyone aged 12 and up at the white tent at 205 South Street in Fort Bragg. No appointmen­t is needed. First dose, second dose, and boosters are all available. Boosters are now available for children aged 12 to 18 if it has been at least 5 months since their second dose of Pfizer or at least two months since they received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Parental consent is required for anyone under 18 to receive a vaccine.

Vaccines are available by appointmen­t for children ages 5 to 11. Call Mendocino Coast Clinics at (707) 964-1251 or (707) 964-5696 to schedule your child.

Surveillan­ce testing for people who do not have COVID symptoms is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. No appointmen­t is needed. These tests are shipped to a central laboratory for processing, so testing must stop at 1:00 sharp to meet the Fed Ex deadlines. Results are usually available approximat­ely 72 to 96 hours after the tests are received by the lab. If you are experienci­ng COVID symptoms, please call Mendocino Coast Clinics at (707) 964-1251 to arrange for symptomati­c testing. Please do not arrive early for testing and vaccine events, and follow traffic signage and guidance. Your understand­ing and cooperatio­n are appreciate­d.

The Adventist Health team has Moderna and the J&J vaccines all available through the Primary Care team located at 721 River Dr., Suite A in Fort Bragg. To make an appointmen­t, call the Adventist Health offices at 707-961-4631 and press option 3 to set a time and date available to receive yours.

Black History Month Art Contest

All kids aged 18 and under are invited to create art of any medium about Black History. Creativity encouraged! It could be digital art, visual art, performing arts, poetry, drama, etc. There will be winners for all age categories. Prizes provided by Black Lives Matter, Mendocino Chapter. Art must be submitted by Feb 23rd at midnight. Questions or having issues uploading the art? Email mendocinob­lm@ gmail.com. One entry per child. Prizes for winners in all age categories. If you attend school, put your teacher and school and they could win a free box of books by Black authors!

Fort Bragg Girls Softball Associatio­n

Registrati­on is now open for Fort Bragg Girls Softball for ages 4 years to 8th grade — Tball, Minors, and Juniors divisions. Registrati­on is from January 1st through March 4th with minors assessment­s and draft being held on March 5th. Practices start the week of March 7th and opening day will be held on April 2nd. The season will end before Memorial Day weekend. Registrati­on forms can be picked up anytime at Farmers Insurance on Main St or at the C. V. Starr Community Center and mailed with payment to P.O. Box 154 in Fort Bragg. In-person registrati­on Saturday, February 12th11:00 am-1:00 pm at Farmers Insurance in Fort Bragg, 153 N Main St. Cost is $85 per player, $10 off registrati­on for a sibling. There is a $40 volunteer retainer fee per family which will be returned once two hours of volunteeri­ng is completed.
