Mendocino Rotary springs into the New Year

-

When the New Year started, the Mendocino Rotary Club revamped its Meeting Schedule and added a series of local nonprofit programs. Its NEW Meeting days are on the Second and Fourth Thursdays of the month, with a Board Meeting on the First Thursday.

To start the Meeting year off on Thursday, January 12, a program was put on by Mendocino Theater Company (MTC). The theater had been closed because of COVID but has a schedule of 6 plays for the remainder of 2023. Their first play, starting on Saturday, March 4, is a British Comedy called “Home, I’m Darling.” It runs through Sunday, April 2. The Club is planning a Theater Night on Thursday, March 30, 2023. If you want to join us, contact Jerry at mcn.org for more information.

At our next meeting on Thursday, the Club traveled to the Mendocino Art Center (MAC), where it heard about MAC’s plans and visited its new Children’s Art Program. On Thursday, February 9, the Club had a special meeting with the Interact Club at Mendocino High School, which it sponsors. The Officers of the Interact Club ran the meeting. Working with the community’s youth is always a special treat. For our last meeting in February on Thursday the 23rd, our program was learning about the functions of the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce. We were updated on all their contributions and with the latest information on the Whale Festival in Fort Bragg on March 18.

In our first meeting on March 9, we will again have a visit from the Mendocino High School Interact Club. They are interested in having some joint activities with the Rotary Club. We plan to review some working options for the rest of 2023. The Film Festival will provide our program on Thursday, March 23. We are hoping even to see some short films from their Festival. If you like to join us for this and future programs, we meet at noon at Preston Hall in Mendocino on Main Street. If you want to join the Mendocino Rotary Club, please get in touch with Jeff at jeffrystubbs@yahoo.com or Ray at alarconins@mcn.org.

Our programs for the rest of our year will include a talk by a representative of the Music

Festival. The Festival will take place on July 15 — 29, 2023, with a return to the Headlands in their tent. We also will get an update from the Mendocino Community Foundation and the Mendocino Coast Humane Society in the 4th Quarter of our year, which ends on June 30, 2023. We will advise you of our programs when their dates have been confirmed.

We hope you can join us at our meetings and even become a member of the Mendocino Rotary Club, the Club that has Informational Programs and Fun Events.

Now that Spring is approaching, why not Spring into action and take advantage of the programs and fun events offered by the Mendocino Rotary Club.
