FBUSD seeks help in planning for students’ futures
Each year, schools across California start planning for the upcoming school year each January. Fort Bragg Unified School District is no exception. We have been analyzing our data, looking at the successes and challenges from our past planning and implementation, and discussing what support our students need to be successful. This is especially important as the effects of the
The COVID pandemic continues to challenge both educators and students. This planning and implementation is done through what’s called the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and FBUSD would like your help in planning for our students’ futures
The LCAP is the plan for spending funds provided by the state. The plan must focus on the needs identified in local and state priorities. The areas that must be addressed are:
• Basic Student Services
• Implementation of State Standards
• Parental Involvement
• Student Achievement
• Student Engagement
• School Climate
• Access to Courses
• Other Student Outcomes While these areas may seem to be very specific, they essentially dictate what our students learn, how they learn, and how best to support them as they continue their educational journey at FBUSD. Your feedback, input, and insight are an integral part of creating a successful and comprehensive LCAP plan that will benefit all students. FBUSD has several ways that community members or parents can participate in the planning process.
• Come to a Board of Trustees meeting to hear the latest updates, ask questions, or share your own thoughts and ideas. The next board meeting is on March 9.
• Complete our parent and community survey. The survey can be found on our website or at the following link: https://bit.ly/FBUSDLCAPsurvey. The survey will be open until March 17, 2023.
• Contact a school site principal or the FBUSD Superintendent, Joe Aldridge, at jaldridge@fbusd.us to schedule a one-on-one conversation. FBUSD Administration will present the final plan for Board of Trustees approval on June 22, 2023. Any input provided before this date will be considered as part of the development of the LCAP.
