Northern California 4-Ball Net Qualifier

-

The NCGA Northern California 4-Ball Net Qualifier was finally played on the Little River course on Sunday, February 25th. The event was scheduled to be played last Sunday, February 18th, but was rescheduled because of rain. Five two-man teams took to the field this past Sunday on a warm spring-like day. Dewey Turner and Jason Carmichael finished first, shooting a team net 65. Larry Krasner and Grant Miller tied the team with Jim Ellis and Jim Corsar, shooting a net 66. In a card-off team, Larry Krasner and Grant Miller captured second place. The card-off remedy for tie scores looks at who won the back nine holes. In this case, team Krasner and Miller shot a net 32 on the back, edging ahead of Ellis and Corsar, who shot a 33. Looking at the scorecards, Jason was on fire on the front nine. After taking a six on each of the first three holes, Jason finished with par, birdie, birdie, par, par, par, par, par, par, completing the back with a thirty-nine. Dewey held the fort, scoring a forty on the front nine. Dewey also shot a forty on the back nine with a birdie on hole seventeen, finishing with an even 80. Jason sank four par putts and shot a 44 on the back, finishing with an 84. The first and secondplace teams will move on to compete against other Northern California winning teams on April 29th and 30th. They may play at Poppy Hills, Del Monte, Pebble Beach, or Monterey. Congratulations on your win, guys, and the best of luck down the road.

And we have it—finally, the first hole-in-one in 2024. Michael Coleman saved us from sinking with one stroke; his tee shot on hole number seven. Michael achieved the ace using his five iron and hitting a ball his playing buddy, Steven, had just found in the bushes.

Will you write the date and the hole on that ball and retire it, Michael? That ball that's been waiting for you in the bushes.

On the horizon, scheduled to be played March 17th, is the Annual St Patty's Day Scramble. All active Men's Club and Women's Club members are welcome to sign up on the sign-up sheet posted on the Little River Golf Course bulletin board. The teams will be computergenerated according to handicap. Sign up. Join in on the fun.
