MCSO: Fort Bragg man arrested after shooting

-

A Fort Bragg man was arrested for allegedly possessing an assault weapon and controlled substances Saturday after a reported shooting on Highway 1 early that morning, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office reported.

According to the MCSO, deputies responded to the area of Boice Lane and the 17000 block of North Hwy. 1 around 5:15 a.m. March 16 after it was reported that a shooting had occurred there.

According to witnesses, a possible suspect vehicle was seen fleeing toward Fort Bragg that “was described as a white four-door Honda Sedan with a Hispanic female driver” that the MCSO believed “belonged to a 22-year-old Hispanic female whose vehicle was associated with other gang-related activity and a previous shooting (and who was) determined to be currently out of custody on pretrial release terms for a previous shooting case.”

Reportedly knowing that the owner of the vehicle was associated with Dylan Dixon, 18, of Fort Bragg, deputies went to his residence on Dryer Lane “and as they approached the general area, the white Honda sedan was observed leaving the location eastbound on W. Highway 20 at a high rate of speed.”

After losing sight of the vehicle, deputies “began checking side roads” and saw the vehicle again as it was heading east on Hwy. 20 and “initiated a traffic stop in the 29000 block of W. Hwy. 20.”

The vehicle contained a female driver and one passenger, and a “single 9mm bullet hole was discovered in the driver's door, with the female advising she did not know how the bullet hole originated.” The MCSO reports that the deputies found “one expended 9mm casing near the intersection of Boice Lane and N. Highway 1.”

While talking with the driver of the suspect vehicle, deputies reportedly saw that she was “receiving text messages on her phone from Dixon,” and while returning to the Dryer Lane address, MCSO deputies and officers from the Fort Bragg Police Department “contacted another vehicle leaving the location with numerous young adults, (one of whom) was found to have active arrest warrants from Mendocino County, and was taken

into custody without incident.”

When the deputies and officers continued to the house, they reportedly saw Dixon climbing out of a window carrying a black duffle bag before fleeing into the woods. After pursuing the suspect, law enforcement personnel reported finding him “hiding behind a tree” and detained him.

Inside the duffle bag was reportedly found “a silver .38 revolver, a silver Mac-11 style automatic pistol, and a large bag of suspected psilocybin mushrooms,” and Dixon was later arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon, possessing a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, committing offenses while out on bail and contempt of court.

Dixon was booked into Mendocino County Jail under $150,000 bail after deputies “requested a bail enhancement” from a Mendocino County Superior Court judge.
