Do you remember?

Rack `em up:

During the upset week, do you remember how Welcome Inn Team #2 whupped up on the Champions of Milano Hotel and Bar Team #1? Well, the next week, Milano Team #1 whupped on Welcome Inn Team #1, not as a reprisal, mind you, but simply because they could. Now, this Tuesday, the 26th, both Welcome Inn teams meet for a regular league game. Uh-oh, Welcome Inn Team #1 must win this match to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. Playoffs are a mere six weeks away, and Welcome Inn Team #2 could, if they win again on Tuesday, put an end to that particular quest. If you have played pool with three players, you know how it goes sometimes. Player “A” might easily win against player “B” but lose against player “C,” and yet player “B” easily wins against player “C” every time. It is weird, but it often works out that way. A similar thing can happen among teams, such as between three players. If you are reading this, you already know that I'm correctly reporting that Welcome Team #1 whupped the hair off Welcome Team #2 because it was a mustwin match in their playoff hunt. The only problem still left (I hope) is the schedule.

Both Noyo River Grill teams continue to dominate the League. Welcome Inn Team #1 faces Grill teams and the Golden West Team #1, just one game back and two players on the top ten list, with an alert and hungry team. Golden West team #1 would make the playoffs if Welcome Inn Team #1 stumbles, just one more time. Captain Kool, Trent Ducati, has, as I have said, a close-knit team.

It is hard not to imagine them in the middle of the playoffs wreaking havoc. Trent continues to review the Welcome Inn schedule and his own, which will be very tough during the last three weeks of regular season play. It will probably come down to who gets the better rolls because both teams have a chance to be in the playoffs, with both N.R.G. teams and Milano #1.

pool games. The league games start Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and usually end before 10 p.m. Tournaments, when held, are open for everyone.

Cue Tip: Information on how to improve your pool game, in books, on video, etc, is so plentiful that I can't think of an excuse for not knowing how to improve. Drills can be boring if you are not keeping a record. An example might include placing five balls randomly on the table and counting the shots to make all 5. Once you start keeping a record, it will stop being boring. It will become a competitive endeavor. The reason you are practicing is because you are competitive. When we practice by ourselves, it may mean just shooting balls randomly for a while. But playing for 3060 minutes once or twice a week, repeatedly playing just rail shots, kick shots, straight-in shots, or a combination of them, is different. Difficult shots played repeatedly, and your recording of hits and misses will show the actual improvement. Contact me at mcbohanon@gmail.com.
