Embattled quarterback taking part in limited workouts with 49ers

- Staff writers Jeff Faraudo, Elliott Almond, and Cam Inman, and the Dallas Morning News contributed to this report.

Colin Kaepernick’s potential trade to the Denver Broncos is not dead. Instead, “it’s dormant,” Broncos general manger John Elway said Thursday.

Elway and Kaepernick met twice last month after the 49ers granted Kaepernick’s request to pursue a trade. Unwilling to accept a revised contract offer from the Broncos, Kaepernick reported April 4 for the start of the 49ers offseason program, and he’s been participating in a limited fashion because of recent surgeries to his right thumb, left shoulder and left knee.

“He’s been working out from what I understand. That’s all I’m going to say,” Elway said in Denver at a pre-draft media session.
