“The Ivory Game”: Netflix cements its rep as a powerhouse documentar­y studio with this gripping adventure tale that damningly advocates for an end to all ivory traffickin­g.“Game” unspools like a Jason Bourne thriller with officials, advocates and an investigat­ive journalist risking all to expose a grotesquel­y lucrative business.“Game” is tautly constructe­d and strikingly photograph­ed, yet refreshing­ly restrained when the camera shows the nauseating reality of elephant poaching. “7 Años”: In this claustroph­obic, confined-to-one locale psychologi­cal drama, four business associates hole up to determine which one will take the fall and head to the pokey for IRS swindling. A chesslike screenplay, magnetic cast and air-tight direction make this first Netflix global original feature from Spain a real winner. (1:17; in Spanish with English subtitles) “In a Valley of Violence”: Indie horror director Ti West lassos the spaghetti Western with this convention­al, sometimes gory, vengeance flick starring Ethan Hawke. It’s a classic scenario as Hawke’s loner guy gets into a dustup in the corrupt dusty town of Denton. John Travolta steals the film as a shifty sheriff. “The Crown”— Anglophile­s will want to catch this fascinatin­g and sumptuous drama series that intimately examines the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II. As the story begins, we meet her as a 25-yearold newlywed played by Claire Foy. Soon, she is faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world’s most famous monarchy, while forging a relationsh­ip with the gruff Prime Minister SirWinston Churchill (John Lithgow).
