UPSCALE MOVES AT CITY CENTER
Bishop Ranch developer announces addition of Equinox fitness center, artisan restaurants and high-end furniture outlets to San Ramon complex
SAN RAMON » The upscale City Center complex in San Ramon’s Bishop Ranch business park has added several tenants, including an Equinox fitness center, joining THE LOT movie theater complex as an anchor, the developer said Wednesday.
Besides THE LOT and the new Equinox, Fieldwork Brewing Company, Roam Artisan Burgers, Williams Sonoma and West Elm are planning outlets at the San Ramon complex.
“With an exceptional offering in entertainment, food, shopping and fitness, City Center will become a place to visit on multiple occasions a week,” Alexander Mehran Jr., president of Sunset Development, the principal developer of Bishop Ranch.
The 300,000-square-foot specialty retail, restaurant and entertainment anchor is due to open in the fall.
The anchor of the City Center — which effectively will become the longawaited downtown district of San Ramon — is THE LOT, a luxury movie complex and dining outlet. THE LOT, touted as a destination entertainment center, is also due to open this fall.
“We were looking for more than just amovie theater, so we’re very excited about bringing THE LOT to the Bay Area,” Mehran said in an Instagram post. “With THE LOT, we will have the most luxurious cinema and dining venue in the market.”
THE LOT will feature a 10- screen, 800- seat movie theater as well as a bar, restaurant and cafe. Movie goers will be able to watch films from leather seats and order food and drinks that can be brought to their seats.
For decades, San Ramon officials have longed for a downtown district, but the primary feature of the East Bay city has been the bustling Bishop Ranch
business park, consisting mainly of office complexes. Now, the City Center development aims to alter San Ramon’s economic fabric.
“Our goal is to make Equinox San Ramon the ultimate destination in the East Bay for regeneration, fitness and community,” said John Klein, senior vice president of real estate for Equinox.
The Equinox San Ramon will total 30,000 square feet and include a yoga studio, outdoor yoga space and an outdoor pool.
“We are excited to open the Fieldwork Taproomand Beer Garden at City Center Bishop Ranch and bring our fresh, locally brewed beer to the Tri-Valley,” said Barry Braden, co-founder and owner of the taproom. “I grew up in the valley, and we have been searching for the ideal place to expand our presence in the East Bay. City Center is that place.”
The City Center complex is designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
“Bishop Ranch has always stood for improving the quality of life for our customers and City Center is a big step forward in delivering that promise,” Mehran said.
