CCS moves football playoff games to five neutral sites
SAN JOSE » The Central Coast Section made its contingency plan official Thursday, moving its 15 postponed football playoff games and cross country championships to the Southern end of the section.
The football games, all delayed since last week because of unhealthy Air Quality Index numbers from the Camp Fire, will be played as part of tripleheaders at five sites Saturday. The cross country championships, which had been rescheduled for Saturday at Crystal Springs in Belmont, will be held Sunday at Toro Park in Salinas.
Here is Saturday’s football schedule:
Salinas High: Los Gatos vs. Palo Alto, 1 p.m.; Milpitas vs. Menlo-Atherton, 4 p.m. Piedmont Hills vs. Wilcox, 7 p.m.
Alisal High: St. Ignatius vs. Sacred Heart Prep, 1 p.m.; Live Oak vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral, 4 p.m.; Del Mar vs. The King’s Academy, 7 p.m.
Alvarez High: Oak Grove vs. Archbishop Mitty, 1 p.m.; Aragon vs. St. Francis, 4 p.m.; Serra vs. Leland, 7 p.m.

Pacific Grove High: Soledad vs. Independence, 1 p.m.; Carlmont vs. Willow Glen, 4 p.m.; Christopher vs. Valley Christian, 7 p.m.
The North Coast Section has considered moving some football games to the Santa Rosa area but no decisions had been announced. If the section cannot finish its playoffs in divisions that send champions to NorCal, it will choose the participants by coin toss if there was no head-to-head result this season between the teams.
The section has flexibility with its Open Division. If Clayton Valley Charter and Liberty do not play Saturday, they can still play next weekend, with the winner advancing to face De La Salle the following weekend.
The Oakland Athletic League announced that its league playoff games have been postponed to Nov. 24. The Silver Bowl will be played Dec. 1.
