Building high in flight path unsafe for workers, fliers

-

Re: “Height matters: San Jose mayor seeks taller downtown area and robust airport to help with city’s economic growth” (Page C7, Nov. 20):

Yes, San Jose can meet the two objectives stated by Mayor Sam Liccardo to have “taller buildings downtown and a strong and growing airport.”

But asking some big airplanes to eliminate a few seats or some cargo in order to land here won’t do it. To build a tall, really tall, building near the flight path is suicide.

Who would want to work in these offices, merely a few hundred yards from landing planes descending at your office-floor level?

Might be neat to see on a clear, sunny, windless day, but …

Building a little farther east, south or west of downtown (and the flight path) looks more promising and safer for workers and flyers. — Mimi McDonald, San Jose
