A 52-yearold man suspected of groping at least two women in downtown on Tuesday night and attempting to push his way through the front door of a nearby home Wednesday was arrested, according to authorities.

The suspect, Felipe de Jesus Meza Prieto, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of burglary, assault with intent to commit felony and sexual battery, according to Mountain View police.

Wednesday at about 5:20 p.m., a woman called 911 to report that a man had attempted to push his way through the front door of her home on Central Avenue. The woman told police that someone was pounding at her front door, and when she looked through the peephole to see who it was it was blocked. When she slightly opened the door to see who was knocking a man tried to push his way in, police said.

The woman closed the door before the man entered and called 911.

One of the officers who responded to the call spotted a man at Central and Santa Rosa avenues who matched the suspect’s description. When the officer stopped the man, he realized the man matched the description of a suspect who had inappropriately touched at least two women in the downtown area late Tuesday afternoon.

In those cases, police received reports that a man groped at least two women on Castro Street between 5:30 and 5:40 p. m. and walked away.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims in both the sexual batteries and in cases in which Prieto has attempted to force his way into a home. Anyone who may be a victim, or know someone who may be a victim, can contact Sgt. Dan Vicencio at dan.vicencio@mountainview.gov
