Concertgoers might have to deal with traffic, parking headaches and outrageous scalped-ticket prices when Metallica opens at Chase Center in next month.

But at least they won’t have to worry about carnivorous, big cats stalking around and picking off metalheads outside of San Francisco’s shiny new arena.

A Canadian woman unwittingly proved that cougars — the large felines, not the Mrs. Robinson variety — have an aversion to the music of the biggest-selling metal band of all-time.

Dee Gallant and her dog Murphy were recently walking around Vancouver Island, British Columbia, when they spotted a mountain lion sizing them up for lunch. Gallant said she went to her bag of tricks to scare it off, but not until she desperately blasted a Metallica song its way did it cower off and retreat, according to The A.V. Club.

Cougars hate Metallica. It’s scientific fact now; we’re just waiting for Gallant to publish her findings.

She said she initially yelled and waved her arms, but the cougar remained still and “just stayed locked on to me and seemed really interested.” Gallant recorded about a minute of the stare- down with the cat.

She can be heard trying to reason with the cougar (“Get out of here. Go on. Git”), shame it (“Bad kitty! Bad kitty!”), intimidate it (“I’ll fight you”), and even cuss at it (“You little bastard”). None of it worked. “So that is when I decided to stop recording and try to do something else,” she adds. Gallant said she searched for the “noisiest” song on her playlist.

She decided on Metallica’s appropriately titled “Don’t Tread on Me.”

“(As) soon as the first notes blared out it ran into the bush,” Gallant said.

Perhaps “Don’t Tread on Me” will be on the set list when Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony team up to christen Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors’ new home, with a pair of concerts Sept. 6 and 8.
