Left Coast exhibition opens Friday at Sanchez center
The 2015 Left Coast Annual Juried Exhibition opens with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sanchez Art Center. This year’s juror is Cathy Kimball, executive director and chief curator of the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art.
Kimball selected 52 works from nearly 900 submitted by 375 artists from California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. There will be a free juror’s talk and awards presentation at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
In addition, the Sanchez is showing the 2014 LCA Awards Exhibition in the East Gallery. It features rich, colorful paintings by Anna Valdez and more monochromatic and abstract works by Joni Marie Theodorsen. This current exhibition by the two artists is an honor they received for winning last year’s show, juried by Jenny Gheith.
Works in both exhibitions will be on view through May 17. The Sanchez Art Center is at 1220 Linda Mar Blvd., Pacifica. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during exhibits. Call 650-355-1894 or visit www.sanchezartcenter.org.
