Indians 8, Rays 1: Carlos Carrasco came within one strike of throwing Cleveland’s first no-hitter since 1981, giving up an RBI single to Joey Butler over leaping second baseman Jason Kipnis’ glove. For the third straight night, the Indians took a perfect game into the sixth inning against the Rays. Carrasco retired the first 19 batters before walking Butler with one out in the seventh. Blue Jays 11, Red Sox 2: Justin Smoak homered from both sides of the plate for Toronto, and Mark Buehrle won his fourth straight decision. Orioles 4, Rangers 2: J.J. Hardy hit a tiebreakin­g tworun homer in the seventh inning to boost Baltimore. Brewers 9, Phillies 5: Adam Lind homered, and Scooter Gennett had three RBIs for Milwaukee. Reds 2, Twins 1: Johnny Cueto allowed four hits in eight innings to lead Cincinnati. Mariners 7, Padres 0: Taijuan Walker pitched onehit ball for six innings, and Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz homered for Seattle. Yankees 3, Angels 1: Garrett Jones homered to help New York end a three-game skid. Pirates 9, Tigers 3: Neil Walker homered twice, including a two-run shot in a five-run third to power Pittsburgh. Cubs 2, Mets 0: Starlin Castro’s run-scoring infield single in the 11th inning sparked Chicago. Astros 6, Royals 5: Jose Altuve had three hits to help Houston complete a threegame sweep. Braves 4, Nationals 1: A.J. Pierzynski and Juan Uribe hit back-to-back homers in a four-run fourth for Atlanta. Dodgers 4, Diamondbac­ks 3: Howie Kendrick had two RBIs, and Brett Anderson allowed one run in seven innings to lead Los Angeles. White Sox 7, Cardinals 1: Melky Cabrera and Tyler Flowers homered as Chicago swept the two-game series.
