Brown scores 19; Bears go to 2-0
Jaylen Brown scored 19 points and Tyrone Wallace had 18 as the Cal basketball team rallied from 11 points down to beat the Frankston Blues 84-76 on Tuesday at Melbourne to improve to 2-0 on its Australian summer tour.
Brown, the Bears’ touted freshman forward, contributed five rebounds and four steals. Wallace, a senior point guard, had five rebounds and four assists. Freshman Ivan Rabb of Oakland contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Jabari Bird added 13 points and six rebounds.
Golf
San Jose State’s Cody Blick of Danville shot a second round 77 for a 146 total and will not make the 64-player cut for the U.S. Amateur Championship in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Second-round play was suspended due to darkness as the current cut is projected to be 3-over 143 for an opportunity to be in the 64-player field for match play. Among those in position to make match play were Dublin’s Jacob Solomon (did not finish), Stanford’s Maverick McNealy (did not finish) and Monterey’s Robby Solomon (73-142), Saint Mary’s Johnny De Los Reyes (69-143) and Atherton’s Jonathan Garrick (71-143).

Babe Ruth baseball
Dylan Lawlor homered in the fourth inning and picked up in the win on the mound as Tri-Valley from the Dublin area scored a 7-1 win over Ohio Valley in the Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old World Series in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Tri-Valley is 3-1 in pool play.
