Seahawks quarterbac­k Russell Wilson and Chiefs counterpar­t Alex Smith struggled behind their unsettled offensive lines in Kansas City’s 14- 13 preseason victory over Seattle.

Matt Ryan was sharp n for the second straight preseason game, leading Atlanta to touchdowns in both of his series in the Falcons’ 30- 22 loss to the New York Jets. Rookie Terron Ward ( De La Salle High) had a 4yard touchdown run for the Falcons.

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, the top seeds at Cincinnati, reached the semifinals. Djokovic beat fifth- seeded Stan Wawrinka 6- 4, 6- 1. Williams followed on center court and rallied to beat Ana Ivanovic 3- 6, 64, 6- 2. Third- seeded Andy Murray reached the semifinals by beating Richard Gasquet 4- 6, 6- 1, 6- 4. He’ll face Roger Federer, who eased through a 6- 3, 6- 4 win over Feliciano Lopez.

Jurors at a civil trial n focused on the market value of Michael Jordan’s identity handed him a major win, ordering a grocery- store chain to pay him $ 8.9 million for invoking his name in a steak ad without his permission. Jordan said he will give the money to charities in Chicago.
