Iggy Azalea, Nick Young split; ‘trust’ issues are cited
Iggy Azalea is looking to rewrite her future without Nick Young, announcing on Instagram Sunday that she has parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers forward.
Apparently, the Australian rapper couldn’t get past Young’s suspected cheating, which became public three months ago when his teammate D’Angelo Russell accidentally leaked a video of Young bragging about sleeping with other women.
“Although I love Nick and have tried to rebuild my trust in him — it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” Azalea, 26, wrote. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned you’re (sic) entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”
Young, 31, simply tweeted “single.”
The couple started dating in 2013 and got engaged in June 2015.
While cheating rumors dogged Young throughout their engagement, they reached an embarrassing new level when the videotape surfaced.
Sports reporters say the video became a major source of controversy in the Lakers locker room.
Azalea went back and forth between indicating the engagement was off to saying she wanted to wait for “some real evidence” before calling it quits.
From Azalea’s Instagram post, it’s unclear whether she found the “real evidence.” At the very least, it sounds like she just couldn’t live with the doubts.
Meanwhile, Azalea’s second studio album, “Digital Distortion,” is due for release on June 24.
