Measure B doesn’t call for Highway 85 toll road

-

As elected leaders in the West Valley cities of Cupertino, Monte Sereno and Los Gatos, along with our counterparts in Saratoga and Campbell, we were disheartened to see a misleading mailer by opponents of our Traffic Relief and Road Repair initiative — Measure B. Claiming to speak for taxpayers, the mailer erroneously claims Measure B calls for a toll road in Highway 85. Nothing could be further from the truth. Each of us, and all five city councils, advocated for the transportation improvements in Measure B for two-plus years. We successfully advocated for $350 million for a transit alternative in the center median of Highway 85 — not a toll road. In addition to a transit solution in Highway 85, Measure B provides $100 million for street maintenance and pothole repairs for our five cities alone, plus funding for numerous West Valley transportation priorities.
