Tips sought after man shot in car

Vehicle seen speeding away after attack on 24-year-old

SAN MATEO — Investigat­ors are seeking tips from the public after a man was shot while sitting in his car over the weekend, according to San Mateo police.

Officers were called about 8 p.m. Friday to a local hospital for reports of a gunshot victim. They learned that a 24-year-old San Mateo man was shot in the 600 block of Rand Street while inside a car. Soon after, an unspecifie­d vehicle was seen speeding away.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police are describing the attack as “an isolated incident,” and after canvassing the shooting site are turning to the public for potential leads.
