Menlo Park man arrested on suspicion of rape, robbery
Cedric Mark Williams, 56, charged in December incident
MENLO PARK — A 56year-old Menlo Park man was arrested Thursday in connection with the robbery and rape of a woman at a home in early December, authorities said.
The alleged crimes came to the attention of the Menlo Park Police Department’s investigations unit Tuesday. Detectives interviewed the victim and identified the suspect as Cedric Mark Williams.
On Thursday, detectives located Williams and interviewed him at the police department.
At the end of the interview, he was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on charges of rape by force, forced oral copulation, rape of an unconscious victim, false imprisonment with violence and robbery.
Additional details about the case, including whether the suspect and the victim knew each other or whose home the alleged crimes occurred at, were not available Thursday.
The rape is the second of the year in the city of 33,000, according to crime statistics posted to the police department’s website.
Last year, 10 rapes were reported, a figure that does not include the current case. And nine were reported in 2015.
