Cespedes hits three home runs and drives in five in Mets’ win

Mets 14, Phillies 4: Yoenis Cespedes hit three of New York’s seven homers to back Matt Harvey (2-0). Lucas Duda hit two homers, and Asdrubal Cabrera and Travis d’Arnaud also went deep for New York. Reds 6, Pirates 2: Scooter Gennett homered for the second straight night and finished with three hits, helping Cincinnati overcome the early departure of injured starter Rookie Davis. Rockies 3, Padres 2: Nolan Arenado hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh, Antonio Senzatela threw seven sharp innings for his first major league win, and Colorado downed San Diego.

Marlins 8, Braves 4: Marcell Ozuna homered twice and had a career-high six RBIs to help Miami win its home opener.

Braves outfielder Matt Kemp has been placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactiv­e to Saturday because of a right hamstring strain.

Marlins president David Samson says talks with multiple parties interested in buying the team are in the “fourth inning,” leaving lots of uncertaint­y about the future of the franchise. Hours before the Marlins’ game Tuesday, Samson said owner Jeffrey Loria might sell before the end of the season — or not at all. Samson declined to identify any suitors. Nationals 8, Cardinals 3: Daniel Murphy homered, doubled twice and had five RBIs for Washington. Left-hander Gio Gonzalez (1-0) allowed two runs — one earned — over seven innings. Indians 2, White Sox 1: Michael Brantley doubled home Francisco Lindor with two outs in the 10th inning as Cleveland celebrated its 2016 A.L. championsh­ip and then won its home opener. Red Sox 8, Orioles 1: Drew Pomeranz struck out six in his season debut, Dustin Pedroia drove in four runs and Christian Vazquez went 4 for 4 as Boston beat Baltimore. Astros 7, Mariners 5: George Springer hit his fourth leadoff home run of the season, Evan Gattis had a bases-loaded, pinch-hit double and Houston beat Seattle. Angels 6, Rangers 5: Carlos Perez’s squeeze bunt in the 10th inning capped a big comeback for Los Angeles, which scored three times in the ninth to tie the game. Brewers 4, Blue Jays 3: Keon Broxton and Domingo Santana hit solo home runs, and Wily Peralta pitched six innings for his second victory in two starts. Toronto has lost six straight home openers.

Josh Donaldson has a sore calf and was not in the lineup Tuesday night for Toronto.
