Dodgers 2, Nationals 1: Clayton Kershaw outdueled Stephen Strasburg with seven sharp innings, helping Los Angeles edge Washington to avoid a sweep. Kershaw (8-2) allowed three hits and struck out nine in his first win since May 17. Strasburg took his first loss since April 29. Reds 6, Cardinals 4: Patrick Kivlehan had a pinch three-run shot that sparked Cincinnati and extended St. Louis’ losing streak to six games, its longest in four years. Scooter Gennett, with a chance to become the first player to homer in five straight plate appearance­s, grounded into a double play. Yankees 8, Red Sox 0: CC Sabathia won his fifth straight start and Chris Carter drove in four runs with a three-run homer and an RBI single as New York beat Boston. Sabathia has a 1.11 ERA during his win streak. Mariners 6, Twins 5: Mike Zunino hit his second homer of the game with two outs in the ninth inning, a two-run shot that gave surging Seattle its ninth win in 10 games. Orioles 9, Pirates 6: Trey Mancini tied the game with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, then hit a three-run drive in the 11th to give Baltimore a comeback win. Rays 3, White Sox 1: Jacob Faria took a three-hitter into the seventh inning of his major league debut as Tampa Bay beat Chicago. Rockies 8, Indians 1: Kyle Freeland pitched 61⁄3 effective innings, Nolan Arenado drove in three runs, and Colorado won its fourth straight. Marlins 6, Cubs 5: Marcell Ozuna hit his 15th homer, J.T. Realmuto also went deep, and Miami held on to end Chicago’s 5-game win streak. Royals 7, Astros 5: Jason Vargas tossed five solid innings for his eighth win as Kansas City beat Houston. Astros starter Dallas Keuchel was a scratch with an illness after going out to warm up. Mets 4, Rangers 3: Jay Bruce homered twice and New York scored the tiebreakin­g run in the ninth on a throwing error by Texas second baseman Rougned Odor.
