Parolee convicted of attempted murder
DALY CITY >> A 40-year-old parolee who threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife and was later shot in the arm by officers has been convicted of attempted murder and other charges, prosecutors said.
Shikeb Saddozai faces life in prison when he returns to San Mateo County Superior Court for sentencing July 12.
A jury on Wednesday also found him guilty of felony stalking, residential burglary, and criminal threats, as well as misdemeanor brandishing, possession of burglary tools and domestic battery.
On Feb. 5, 2016, four days after being released from prison for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl at a spa in 2012, Saddozai tracked down his ex-girlfriend, choked and hit her, and later told her by text that he was “going to get her,” according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors said the exgirlfriend ended the relationship while Saddozai was in prison. The two have a child together.
Two days after the attack, Saddozai cut off an ankle monitor, broke into her Daly City apartment, chased her around with a knife and threatened to kill her, according to prosecutors.
Daly City police officers Marilyn Drexler and Peter Nelson responded to the scene and opened fire when they were confronted by Saddozai in the backyard of a nearby home. Saddozai was hit in the arm.
Both officers received commendations from Daly City police Chief Manuel Martinez Jr. for “their courageous and tenacious actions in taking a violent career criminal into custody.”
Saddozai remains in custody on $500,000 bail. Contact Jason Green at 408-920-5006.
