Blue Jays 7, Rangers 6: Kendrys Morales hit a goahead single after a tying single by Josh Donaldson in the ninth inning in a matchup of AL Division Series opponents the past two seasons. Jose Bautista, who took a punch to the jaw from Rougned Odor in a wild brawl in Toronto’s last regular-season game at Texas last season, started the Blue Jays’ four-run fourth with his 12th home run, a 442-foot shot to left.

Cubs 3, Padres 2: Willson Contreras hit a tying home run, Javier Baez scored the winning run on an error, and Chicago closer Wade Davis worked out of a ninth-inning jam. Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo extended his career-high hitting streak to 13 games.

Pirates 8, Brewers 1: Travis Shaw’s homer in the second put Milwaukee ahead 1-0 and set a franchise mark with the Brewers scoring their 16th consecutiv­e run via the long ball, but it was all Pittsburgh starter Gerrit Cole after that. Marlins 8, Nationals 7: Marcell Ozuna singled home the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning as Miami overcame an early six-run deficit. Miami’s Justin Bour tied the score at 6 with a grand slam.

Indians 12, Orioles 0: Corey Kluber pitched a three-hitter for his fifth career shutout as Cleveland rolled to its seasonhigh sixth straight victory.

Reds 7, Rays 3: Scott Schebler and Scooter Gennett homered, and Joey Votto snapped an eighthinni­ng tie with an RBI single as Cincinnati snapped a season-high ninegame losing streak. Mariners 6, Tigers 2: Mike Zunino hit a pair of two-run home runs to send Detroit to its ninth loss in 13 games.

Royals 4, Red Sox 2: Whit Merrifield drove in the goahead run in the seventh inning, and Kansas City won for the eighth time in nine games.
