Dolphins bring Timmons back after week’s AWOL suspension

-

Miami lifted its suspension of linebacker Lawrence Timmons after one week Tuesday, and he’s eligible to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints in London.

Timmons was suspended indefinitely after he went AWOL the day before the Dolphins’ season-opening win at the Los Angeles Chargers. The Dolphins filed a missing person report before making contact with the 11-year veteran, who apparently was dealing with a personal matter.

The game was the first Timmons has missed since 2010. He signed a $12 million, two-year deal in March after 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rams’ DE faces gun charges

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks was arrested after an officer saw a stolen gun in his car when he was pulled over for speeding, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

Westbrooks was arrested Friday on suspicion of possessing a loaded and stolen firearm and possessing a high-capacity magazine, said Sgt. Chris Carr.

He was stopped for speeding along Interstate 5 near Bakersfield, and an officer spotted a gun in the glove box as Westbrooks was looking for his car’s registration document, Carr said.

The gun, which had been reported stolen in Sacramento in 2009, was loaded with a clip that held 13 rounds, Carr said.

Beckham display angers Giants

The New York Giants say they will internally handle Odell Beckham Jr.’s embarrassing post-touchdown celebration.

Co-owner John Mara said in an email Tuesday that he was unhappy with Beckham’s behavior Sunday in Philadelphia.

The wide receiver pretended to urinate like a dog after catching a fourth-quarter touchdown in the Giants’ 27-24 loss to the Eagles. He was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct and might be fined.

“I do not want to get into a discussion about this, but I will say that I am very unhappy with Odell’s behavior on Sunday and we intend to deal with it internally,” Mara wrote in his email.

Chiefs put kicker on IR

The Kansas City Chiefs have placed kicker Cairo Santos on injured reserve and claimed rookie kicker Harrison Butker off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.

Santos was hit on a field goal attempt Sunday in Los Angeles. He also missed time in training camp with a groin injury.

Kansas City plays the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

Players say the image they hope to portray on Thursday is one of unity.

Most of the Packers also locked arms during the anthem before Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.
