Three San Jose middle schools, district office burglarized, vandalized
There are no surveillance cameras at any of the schools targeted
SAN JOSE >> Three schools and the district office of the Alum Rock Union School District were vandalized and ransacked in the past week, district officials said Tuesday.
Officials confirmed that vandals targeted Ocala STEAM Academy, Sheppard Middle School, George Middle School and the district’s human resources and purchasing office.
The first break-in occurred early Thursday at Sheppard. Vandals forced open the door to the staff room and broke into a vending machine, officials said. Snacks were stolen.
On the same night, vandals entered the main office at Ocala through a broken window. A vending machine was forced open and money appeared to have been stolen, officials said.
The fourth incident occurred at George late Monday. Officials said vandals broke into the main office through a window in the staff room. They then went through interior offices, damaging doors to gain entry, and got into the library through a broken window.
There are no surveillance cameras at any of the schools that were targeted, an official said.
The incidents were reported to San Jose police. Additional information about possible suspects or arrests was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about the break-ins can contact Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP (7867) or svcrimestoppers. org. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
