Taylor Mac, the Broadway hit “Dear Evan Hansen” and a new Go-Go’s musical will be the highlights of the newly announced 2018 season at The Curran theater in San Francisco.

The first full-length season at The Curran, which strutted back into the spotlight last year with a critically acclaimed inaugural lineup, will include a holiday show from the fabulously subversive Mac, who wowed audiences with his epic “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music” last year. The bedazzled Mac returns with “Taylor Mac’s Holiday Sauce,” a holiday fantasia that runs Nov. 21-Dec. 1 and is sure to put the tinsel into overdrive.

The Tony-winning “Dear Evan Hansen” delves into the swirling chaos of a high school senior living with social anxiety in a social media-obsessed world. Directed by Michael Greif (“Rent”), it will run at the Curran Dec. 5-30.

The rest of the season includes the Broadway tryout of “Head Over Heels,” a new romantic musical inspired by the iconic girl band the Go-Go’s. Spinning around ’80s pop hits such as “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation,” the musical will be directed by Michael Mayer (“American Idiot”). The show will make its world premiere at the Curran April 10-May 6 before heading to New York.

“I was blown away by the extraordinary makeover Carole (Shorenstein Hays) gave The Curran theater,” Mayer said. “It seemed to me this beloved theater was now telling a new story about inclusion, community and history. A mashup which seemed a dream home for a new Broadwaybound musical I was directing called ‘Head Over Heels.’ ”

Rounding out the lineup is “Soft Power,” an intriguing new musical comedy created by David Henry Hwang (“M. Butterfly”) and composer Jeanine Tesori (“Fun Home”). The piece will play with the cultural collisions between East and West as well as the rise of China on the world stage of aesthetics. It will run June 20-July 8.

Subscription tickets are now on sale, ranging from $116 to $744. www.SFCurran.com. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
