Michael E. Hancock, 54, of San Jose, California, passed away at home unexpected­ly from a heart attack on April 19, 2018.

Michael was born May 1, 1963 in San Jose and was the son of Merit and Carol Hancock of Willow Glen.

Michael was a life long resident of Willow Glen, where he attended Schallenbe­rger Grammar School, Markham middle school, Mitty High School and Willow Glen High School.

Michael was a beloved brother and friend. His kindness was always present throughout his life. He especially helped friends who were in need. Michael was known for his joyful spirit, love of all kinds of music, passion for local sports teams and kindness and generosity to friends. He was a staple in the local live music scene for many years and possessed an encycloped­ic knowledge of music and sports. Michael was a creative and talented guitarist and interior art designer. He was taken too soon and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his sisters Jane and Kim Hancock and his brothers Tom and Bill Hancock.

Michael’s memorial service/celebratio­n of life will take place on June 30, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Center for Spiritual Enlightenm­ent, 1146 University Ave., San Jose, CA 95126. Reception (with live music, of course) immediatel­y to follow.
