Police investigating Fremont’s second homicide of the year
FREMONT >> Police are investigating the city’s second homicide of the year after locating the body of a 56-year-old man who was found shot to death inside a home near Fremont Boulevard and Blacow Road.
About 12:30 a.m. Monday, police received 911 calls from multiple people who heard gunshots in the 43000 block of Charleston Way, including people who lived inside the house, according to Fremont police Lt. Mike Tegner.
Patrol officers were sent to the neighborhood and located the man inside his bedroom. Police said the man was renting a room, and shared the house with another family.
Police say a witness saw a man walk away from the front door and ride away on a bicycle.
Although Fremont police said gunshots were reported, they did not specify how the person was killed.
A large perimeter was set up around Charleston Way and officers searched for a male suspect. Police used a drone to assist with the search.

Fremont’s first homicide this year was the Feb. 17 shooting of Holly Lynn Dreyer, 49, in her home on Third Street. Police believe it was a murder-suicide by her husband.
