Paul, Anthony pick up slack with Harden out

Chris Paul had 32 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, Carmelo Anthony added a season-high 28 points, and the Houston Rockets snapped a fourgame losing streak with a 119-111 road victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

Clint Capela finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Eric Gordon had 21 points. The Rockets stumbled to a 1-5 start. They snapped out of their slump thanks to one of the best games as a Rocket for Paul, who had season bests in points and assists. James Harden is expected back tonight against Chicago. GRIZZLIES 110, JAZZ 100 >> Mike Conley scored a season-high 28 points to lead Memphis to its third straight win.

THUNDER 134, WIZARDS 111 >> Oklahoma City picked up its fourth consecutiv­e victory behind Russell Westbrook’s 23 points and 12 assists. New center Dwight Howard made his debut for Washington after missing all of training camp and the first seven regular-season games with a sore backsid. He started and scored 20 points in 23 minutes. RAPTORS 107, SUNS 98 >> Kawhi Leonard scored 19 points, and Toronto used a 14-2 fourth-quarter run to finally put away Phoenix. Jonas Valanciuna­s added 16 points for the Raptors, who improved to 8-1, the best nine-game start in franchise history.

MAGIC, WALTON HAVE CHAT

>> Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson called coach Luke Walton into a meeting on Tuesday to criticize Walton for the way the team had played in its first seven games, according to sources familiar with the meeting who weren’t authorized to speak about it publicly.

CAVALIERS LOSE LOVE AFTER SURGERY >> Forward Kevin Love will be out at least six weeks and maybe longer after surgery on his left foot. Love, who injured his left big toe in Cleveland’s first exhibition game, had the operation on Friday. The team said his timeline to return to basketball activity will be updated in about six weeks.
