Scott Andrew Skillicorn

-

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family after a 10-month battle with cancer. Scott was born on May 10th, 1955 in San Diego, California to Joan and Stanley Skillicorn, the fourth of five children. Scott grew up in San Jose, graduating from Willow Glen High School in 1973.

After high school Scott worked at the San Jose Municipal Waterworks for a time, before starting his own landscape construction business, Creative Exterior Development Company. He grew the company into a premier Bay Area landscape contracting business, building beautiful and elaborate landscapes for multi-million-dollar homes throughout the region. Scott was the driving force, and heart and soul of the company, rarely needing to look for work as word of mouth regarding his disciplined work ethic and attention to detail had clients lining up his services, sometimes as much as a year in advance. That legacy will live on at many beautiful estates.

Scott was an avid outdoorsman in the truest sense of the word and was happiest in rugged country. His love of hunting, first experienced as a boy hunting on the Grant Ranch in eastern Santa Clara Valley with his brothers and dad, stuck with him throughout his life. He is warmly remembered by many hunting buddies as a special person and dear friend.

Scott’s greatest pride and joy came from his daughters Amy and Alicia Skillicorn. No matter where a conversation started, it wound up with him speaking of his pride and love for Amy and Alicia. Scott is survived by his two daughters, their mother Mary Skillicorn, his siblings Gayle Skillicorn, Mark Skillicorn, David Skillicorn (Lisa), Patie Wegman (Jack) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family remembrance will be held at a future date.
