SAN JOSE >> A 32-year-old man was arrested after being involved in an early Friday morning collision that sent two cars slamming into an apartment complex in Willow Glen, authorities said.

Daniel Alberto Quintana of San Jose was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence.

At 1:23 a.m. Friday, San Jose police responded to a report of an injury traffic collision in the 100 block of Meridian Avenue, according to Officer Gina Tepoorten. Based on their preliminary investigation, police said a man — later identified as Quintana — was driving a white Honda Accord north on Meridian approaching Willow Street when he rear-ended a black Volkswagen sedan.

Both vehicles lost control and “collided with portions of an apartment complex,” Tepoorten said.

The female driver of the Volkswagen was not injured, but a male passenger was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Tepoorten said. Quintana, the driver of the Honda, was also taken to a hospital for an injury not considered life-threatening. He was released from a hospital, then was booked into jail.

No residents of the apartment complex were injured.
