Nancy Norris
November 30, 1930 - December 2, 2018 Sunnyvale
Nancy was born November 30, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harry and Leona Pawell, sister of Harry and Patricia. The family moved to Illinois, then Summit, New Jersey, where Nancy met Roger Pott. Both attended Swarthmore College. Nancy earned a degree with honors in English and participated in the new sport of synchronized swimming. She and Roger married in 1952. The newlyeds moved to England where Roger served in the USAF. Daughters Kathy and Marian were born in Syracuse, NY, son Larry in Alexandria, VA.
The family moved to Sunnyvale in 1961. Nancy volunteered as a brownie leader, little league team mom, precinct chairperson, Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed careers as a property manager and paralegal. She married Marshall Norris in 1978 and they enjoyed 36 years of marriage. She served as devoted caregiver for her mother, sister Patricia and Marsh, but her favorite career was Grandma Extraordinaire. She attended little league and soccer games, ballet recitals, track meets, film festivals and plays, christenings, graduations across state lines, and was blessed to share in the lives of Sam, Corey, Geoff, Jane, Audrie, Gemma, Morgan, Oliver, and great-granddaughter Addy.
Nancy was a lifelong learner and traveler, full of exuberance and life, wit and charm. She was a faithful member of Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon and elder. She is survived by sister Patricia, children Kathy (Roger), Marian (Craig), Larry (Lisa), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Granddaughter Audrie, husband Marsh, brother Harry, preceded her in death.
A service is scheduled Friday, December 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, 728 W. Fremont Avenue, Sunnyvale.
