James Raymond Haney
Aug. 30, 1927 - Nov. 17, 2018 Resident of Campbell
James Raymond Haney 1927-2018, Campbell, California. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Ray, after 91 remarkable years. He was the third of five children born to Jim and Johnnie in Belleville, Arkansas, where he spent his youth swimming the creeks and had many family travel adventures on the Rock Island Railroad. He moved to California as a teen where he finished high school and attended college. His education was interrupted when he got a higher calling and joined the Marine Corps. He spent two tours, serving courageously and with honor in the WWII and Korean Wars and received a Purple Heart. In between his tours, he met and married the love of his life, Laveda. They were married for 42 wonderful years and had 3 children. In 1960, they moved to Campbell, where he continued his career with Lockheed and spent his off-time boating and water skiing with the family. He also coached his sons’ baseball teams and, in later years was an umpire. After his retirement, he and Laveda bought an RV and spent the next two years traveling the U.S. and Canada. There were only 5 states they didn’t see. It was truly a life well-lived. Ray leaves behind by 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren and his sister, Izona. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laveda and beloved son, Tom. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
