Doug Brooner

-

Resident of Campbell

In God’s celestial choir, Doug Brooner is now harmonizing with the Angels, in his final choir. Doug was born January 4, 1934 in San Diego and died December 5, 2018 in San Jose. Because his father was a Navy man, the family moved frequently and Doug drifted through 27 schools before graduating from Lincoln High School in San Jose in 1952. This is where he met Janet Wood who would become the love of his life and his wife and partner. Doug was very proud of his sons Mark and Eric who were born in 1959 and 1961, completing the family and bringing great joy and happiness.

After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy, Doug graduated from Santa Clara University with a business degree and began a 37-year career with IBM, starting as a time keeper and advancing to International Assignee Representative. Doug enjoyed traveling, RV camping, simple pleasures, but mostly singing. He sang for almost 60 years with the choir at Calvary United Methodist Church, several years with West Valley Masterworks Chorale, currently with Atria Singers and Stringers and Fun Time Singers, performing in their winter concerts only 3 days before passing.

Doug is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet and sons Mark and Eric. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, December 15 at 10:30 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 729 Morse Street, San Jose. Please wear colorful clothes. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or to Fun Time Singers at FunTimeSingers.org.
